Problem SolvingThe following common errors and workarounds are discussed in this section:
Server not respondingIf the server should go down or the communication between the client workstation and the EVA Netmodeler server be disrupted, you may find that GM cannot communicate with the server. Whatever you have previously saved should be fine on the server. Work that you have in GM and have not yet saved can be saved when connection is restored, if the server is still up and you still have an active EVA Netmodeler session. If the server is restarted or your session has timed out, you will typically have to redo your last work in GM. Reason to get into the habit of saving fairly regularly. GM does not loadYou may not have permission to run the GM feature. This is controlled by the Area Security item ArchiSqueakGraphical. You must have rights to this (either directly linked to you user, or inherited from a group or role of which you are a member. Generally, if you do not have these rights, then the buttons or links to launch GM will not display when you are working in EVA Netmodeler . Another reason could be that you have not (successfully) installed the necessary VM in the browser to run the applet. Errors reported while working, loading or savingThese are normally due to communication problems between the client environment and the server. A second cause can be that you have waited a long time in GM before doing anything and the EVA Netmodeler session on the server has expired (this is done for security reasons). You can prevent this in future by:
Display size inappropriateIf GM opens at an inappropriate size for your display, all is not lost. The size is controlled by system settings. These can be adjusted by the administrator, or yourself if you have necessary permissions. They can be set globally, or for a user group/role or individual user. Items valid in the model type do not appear in models loadedIf you are working with a model type that includes items that you do not see in GM, the typical cause is that your EVA Netmodeler security rights do not allow you to see that type. GIDE or Type browser does not launch in right hand paneThe most obvious cause of this is that your user account has not been configured to have access to these features, which are controlled by Area Security settings in the repository. |
