Session ReportA new session is started each time a user logs in to EVA Netmodeler successfully. If the user is inactive for a time exceeding the specified time-out period (Controlled by a global or user specific system setting), EVA Netmodeler will expire the session to preserve security when users do not log out, but leave their browser open and logged on. If the session has expired and further activity is attempted, the user is informed that the session has expired and a new log on is required. Anonymous session time outs are usually set to be much longer, so users will be unaware of time constraints. This feature is used mainly for portals, but can also be used with normal users inside a secure network to overcome time-out limitations. The session report tool, gives a detailed list of all the users that are logged onto EVA Netmodeler with the userID, the time that's left of the session and the session key for that each session. This feature is useful if the server needs to be shut down for updates or maintenance, since it gives you a list of active users, who should be notified. If you are authorised, it is also possible to use the link next to a session to force that session to expire. This effectively prevents the designated user from continuing with any activity or requests to the server until they have gone through the log-on procedure again. There is a background process which cleans up expired sessions. The activity of this is reported in the latter part of the report. This function can be accessed from the EVA Netmodeler system menu. |
