Tree Browser
This browser allows you to view an item and all its related items arranged in a familiar tree structure. From this tree structure you can view any of the related items, or make any of the items the focus item of the browser.
When this browser first opens you will need to specify the item type that you want to start with from the drop-down list. After selecting the item type you can further restrict the list of items by specifying a wild card before
clicking the Go button. The wildcard functions as follows:
- any characters - matches any item that contains the sequence of characters anywhere in its name
- *any characters - matches any item ending with the sequence of characters
- any characters* - matches any items starting with the sequence of characters
Selecting any of the items in the list displays the item at the top of the tree in the left-hand frame, and all of its legal
relationship types indented below it. Clicking the triangle icon to the left of an item in this list will alternately open or close the list of items it contains as illustrated below.
Hover the mouse over the icon to the left of an item to see a tool-tip containing the item type. Clicking the icon will open a window displaying the item type documentation.
Selecting the (=) button next to any item will display its details in the right-hand pane. The buttons in the right-hand pane have the following functions:
- edit enables you to update the item properties
- select makes the item displayed in the right-hand pane the focus item of the tree browser. This opens a new tree in the left-hand frame with the selected item at the top.
Clicking on the name of an item in the expanded tree in the left-hand frame will also refocus the browser on that item.
This browser is only accessible from the system menu.
